Artist > Ralph Lazar & Lisa Swerling
Ralph Lazar and Lisa Swerling are a husband and wife team, best known for their cartoon creations for Harold’s Planet, Vimrod, and The Brainwaves.
Harold’s Planet are among the most prominent UK cartoon characters making appearances in greeting cards, books, and prints produced by The Animation Art Gallery.
Lisa Swerling & Ralph Lazar began collaborating on Harold's Planet in 1996, initially as collection of illustrated short-stories for an adult audience. In the first stories, their bobbly-nosed, soft-footed eponymous hero explored the Open Plain, ever-curious, ever-patient and with an eye for spotting flying grannies. He's more or less been doing the same thing ever since.
In 1998, after a proposal for an animated TV series adapted from their short-stories, won the International Project Competition at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, Swerling & Lazar isolated themselves on a small island in the Indian Ocean (Ille au Cerf - part of the Seychelles) where they further developed the world of Harold & friends. Since then, their work has mushroomed into a significant global cartoon property.
