Lisa Swerling & Ralph Lazar began collaborating on Harold's Planet in 1996, initially as collection of illustrated short-stories for an adult audience. In the first stories, their bobbly-nosed, soft-footed eponymous hero explored the Open Plain, ever-curious, ever-patient and with an eye for spotting flying grannies. He's more or less been doing the same thing ever since. In 1998, after a proposal for an animated TV series adapted from their short-stories, won the International Project Competition at the Annecy Animation Festival in France, Swerling & Lazar isolated themselves on a small island in the Indian Ocean (Ille au Cerf - part of the Seychelles) where they further developed the world of Harold & friends. Since then, their work has mushroomed into a significant global cartoon property. Each image is numbered to 500 and features the publisher's Embossing of Authenticity.

Ralph Lazar and Lisa Swerling are a husband and wife team, best known for their cartoon creations for Harold’s Planet, Vimrod, and The Brainwaves.
