This edition has been created from the original artwork used to create the wonderful book: Mr Ben - Red Knight
You can see the texture of the original board, the nuances of the pen strokes, and every amazing minute detail of characters and their expressions.
This is as close to owning the original artwork, in fact, framed on the wall you would swear it was the original!
We had the pleasure of exploring the Mr Benn art archives and unearthed the original hand painted artwork used to create the covers of all of the fabulous Mr Benn books first written and illustrated by David McKee in 1967.
Each edition is hand signed by David McKee and our studio embossing. Each piece comes with the official Certificate of Authenticity.
And, David McKee has agreed than just 25 of the edition will feature a special hand drawn remarque of Mr Benn. 25, that's all.
Mr Benn is an ordinary man who has extraordinary adventures. In this, the first ever Mr Benn story, he swaps his bowler hat and black suit for a red suit of armour and makes friends with a dragon.
This is the book that no one saw, it wasn't released but everyone remembers it!
The original four books were: Mr Benn - Red Knight, Big Game Benn, 123456789 Benn, and Big Top Benn. There were six original books planned, but the fifth and sixth were never published.
The fifth was called Mr Benn Rides Again, the story of which was used to make the television episode The Cowboy.
The sixth, never completed, was Superbenn, in which the superhero Benn sets out on an environmental adventure.
David McKee is the author and illustrator of over 100 children's books and the creator of several memorable characters besides Mr Benn, including Elmer the Patchwork Elephant and King Rollo.
