A 5 layered Original Production Cel on an original hand-painted background. This is so very rare, as matching cels and backgrounds are very difficult to find. For more than 100 cels there may only be one background. The Story is about a tailor , his cat Simpkins and the mice that inhabit his shop. The mice who use the left over thread and material to make themselves clothes, are caught by the cat. The Tailor sends Simpkins to by thread and whilst gone sets all the mice free. The Cat out of anger hides the thread so the tailor can't finish a commission becomes ill and the mice secretly help the tailor finish the outfit. The Tailor of Gloucester was made into an animation in 1993 by Frederick Warne the publisher of Beatrix Potter's books for the 100 years. We have been looking after the original production archive for nearly 10 years. We are always overjoyed at how lucky we are to see such beautiful examples of british animation, we are proud to be able to make them available to other Beatrix Potter fans | ||
