Old Dog - New Venture
Greetings one and all, and welcome to the start of an exciting new venture, here at Art You Grew Up With.
Out there, in the real world, I'm a freelance writer and comic artist called Frazer Diamond, but I've assumed a different nom de plume online, where I'm known as The Hound. See, I've been on the web for more than a decade now, bringing together British animation news, interviews and views at my little-turned-large web site Toonhound.com.
So I'm The Hound at Toonhound, but I don't just write about my favourite art form. I am also a collector. I have original works, production cels, and Fine Art giclées stacked to the rafters of my attic in north-east Scotland. And over and above that writing and collecting I am a canine on a mission. I want to preserve our animation heritage, I want to educate the public at large and encourage budding new animators and artists to pick up a pen, or a brush, or whatever they require to get creating.
And what do you know, the Art You Grew Up With team share the same ideals, which is why I've just made an 1100 mile round-trip to visit the gallery in London to enthuse with Russell and his team, the result being, they've very graciously invited me in to their inner sanctum.
And I've got to tell you, it's an exciting place to be right now, because Art You Grew Up With have some big plans up their sleeves; plans so big they will require extra large new sleeves to be stitched in to place to contain them.
This new blog you're reading, it's my very own, very special mouthpiece, where I can talk about those plans, animated productions old and new, and a whole lot more besides over the coming weeks and months.
I'm straining at my lead even as I write this, I'm so keen to get started, so grab hold and together we'll track down all the animated goodness that Art You Grew Up With has to offer!...
